My involvement in university student groups did not begin until the beginning of my second year. I have since become involved with three groups. Read more below.
This student group is a chapter of a larger initiative in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) focused on promoting sustainability efforts. I joined this group in the summer of 2022 as a General Executive. My role was to lend a helping hand to the executive team. I am now the Vice President of Internal Affairs for the 2023 - 2024 academic year. We have done a lot in the past and I cannot wait to see what we have in store this year!
The Environmental and Physical Sciences Student Association (EPSA) acts as a liaison between undergraduate students of the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC) enrolled in the chemistry, physics, environmental science, and environmental studies programs (and their specializations) and the faculty of UTSC's Department of Physical and Environmental Sciences (DPES). I joined this group in the summer of 2023 as the first Environmental Science Aid Centre director (to date, the Aid Centre's oversight is now the responsibility of EPSA's Environmental Science Director). I oversaw the environmental science aid centre, its tutors, and the review sessions for UTSC's environmental sciences (EES-) courses in the 2023-2024 academic year.
I first joined this student group in the 2021-2022 academic year as their second-year representative. It was my responsibility to act as the laison between this group and the other second-year students. As things were still mostly online and we are an environment advocacy group, we were not able to accomplish much as a team. In the 2022-2023 academic year, I was promoted to become one of two Co-Presidents for the team. I continue my co-presidency into the 2023-2024 year. My role, naturally, has expanded to overseeing the entire executive team. I eagerly await to see what this year brings for the group.
